The best Tradeshift alternative depends on which half of Tradeshift you use. For a global e-invoicing network with tax clearance, the like-for-like options are Basware, Esker and Coupa, all quote only. For reading, coding, matching and approving US supplier invoices, AutoPayables does that job for $49 or $149 a month, published, with no supplier fees and no onboarding project.

What a US AP team keeps after leaving Tradeshift
The invoice work stays automated. The network, the supplier fees and the onboarding project go away.
Invoices read from email and PDF
Suppliers keep sending invoices the way they already do. Vendor, dates, totals and every line item are read for you.
Line level GL coding
Each line gets a suggested GL account, and the next bill from that vendor arrives coded the same way.
Two and three way matching
Bills are checked against purchase orders and receipts within the tolerance you set before anyone approves them.
Duplicate invoice checks
Repeat invoice numbers and lookalike bills are flagged before they can reach a payment run.
Ledger sync
Approved bills, vendors and payments sync to QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite and Sage on Growth and Scale.
No supplier onboarding
There is no portal to sign suppliers up for and no fee charged to your vendors, ever.
How to move off Tradeshift in one close
Start with your data, not a demo.
Check where invoices really come from
Count last year's invoices from foreign suppliers and from suppliers who actually used the network rather than emailing a PDF.
Run last month through AutoPayables
Upload a real batch, review the coding and matches, and approve anything over your threshold.
Export history before notice is due
Pull open invoices, the vendor master and approval history out of Tradeshift ahead of your renewal date.
Send one supplier notice
Give suppliers a new invoice address and a cutoff date, then run both tools in parallel for one close.
Where a Tradeshift renewal buys more than a US AP team needs
An honest read for teams whose pain is the invoice inbox, not foreign tax clearance.
Tradeshift renewal
- Quote only, with no free trial
- Onboarding billed as a separate project
- Suppliers can be charged above 600 invoices a year
- Value depends on suppliers joining the network
AutoPayables at $49 or $149 a month
- Price on a public page, first 20 invoices as a one time trial
- No setup fee, dedicated onboarding on Scale
- Your suppliers never pay us anything
- Works on the PDFs suppliers already send
Teams that replace Tradeshift with AutoPayables
They usually have a renewal coming and a mostly domestic supplier base.
US subsidiaries of global groups
The parent keeps its network for Europe, and the US entity moves its domestic bills to a tool it can run without a rollout team.
Distributors with PO heavy purchasing
Hundreds of supplier invoices against purchase orders each month, where three way matching matters more than a network.
Teams whose suppliers never joined
Half the vendor base still emails PDFs after a year. Reading those PDFs well beats chasing portal signups.
Controllers cutting software spend
A published monthly price is easier to defend at renewal than a multi year quote with services attached.
Tradeshift alternatives at a glance
Tradeshift sells two things that are easy to blur in a proposal: a global e-invoicing network with tax clearance in the countries that require it, and an accounts payable product called Pay that reads, matches and routes supplier invoices. The right replacement depends on which of those you are actually using. The table below groups the realistic alternatives by that split and records only what each vendor publishes about price, with directory estimates kept out of it.
| Alternative | Closest to Tradeshift on | Published pricing | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| AutoPayables | AP invoice capture, coding, PO matching and approval | Yes. $49 a month for 200 invoices, $149 for unlimited, no per-user fee | US teams whose suppliers email PDFs and who do not need foreign e-invoicing clearance |
| Basware | E-invoicing network plus AP automation | No. The pricing page exists but routes every buyer to its sales team | Large groups that need a supplier network and multi-country compliance |
| Esker | E-invoicing compliance and AP automation | No. esker.com/pricing returns a 404 and the AP page asks you to request a demo | Multinationals; Esker states e-invoicing compliance in 60+ countries and 135+ currencies |
| Coupa | Supplier network plus full procure to pay | No. Quote only, and third parties report entry pricing near $2,500 a month | Enterprises that want procurement, sourcing and AP in one suite |
| Tipalti | AP automation plus global supplier payouts | Partly. From $99 a month for AP and $249 a month for Mass Payments, unlimited users, transaction pricing on top | Companies paying many foreign suppliers in local currency |
| Medius | AI invoice matching and approval | No. Both packages list unlimited users but no price; go-live is quoted at 8 to 12 weeks | Mid-market and enterprise teams with high PO volume |
| Yooz | AP capture and approval | No figures. Priced on document volume, unlimited users, 15 day trial through a form | Mid-sized teams that want a trial in a production environment |
| AvidXchange | US AP automation plus payments | No | US mid-market, especially construction, real estate and property management |
| BILL | Bill capture, approvals and payments | Yes. Essentials $49, Team $65, Corporate $89 per user a month | Small US companies on QuickBooks or Xero |
Two of these are like-for-like replacements for the network half of Tradeshift: Basware and Esker. Coupa is a like-for-like replacement only if you also want procurement. Everything else on the list replaces the invoice processing half and assumes your suppliers keep sending invoices the way they do today, by email or PDF, rather than through a portal.

What are the alternatives to Tradeshift?
The main alternatives to Tradeshift are Basware and Esker for global e-invoicing networks, Coupa for a full procure to pay suite, Tipalti and AvidXchange for AP with payments, and Medius, Yooz, BILL and AutoPayables for invoice processing. If your suppliers are mostly in the US, an AP tool with a published price usually replaces what you use Tradeshift for at a fraction of the cost.
The quick way to narrow the list is to check two facts in your own data: how many of last year's invoices came from suppliers outside the US, and how many suppliers actually submitted through the Tradeshift network instead of sending a PDF that someone uploaded for them. If both numbers are small, you are paying for a network you are not using.
Who are Tradeshift's competitors?
Tradeshift's direct competitors are Basware, Coupa, SAP Ariba and JAGGAER on the supplier network and procurement side, and AvidXchange, Tipalti, Yooz, Medius and BILL on the accounts payable side. CB Insights names JAGGAER, Coupa and Basware as its top competitors, while review directories such as GetApp and SelectHub list mostly AP automation tools.
The two groups compete for different budgets. A network vendor sells supplier onboarding, compliance and document exchange to procurement and IT. An AP vendor sells fewer keystrokes, faster approvals and fewer duplicate payments to the controller. Tradeshift sits in both conversations, which is why its shortlist looks so mixed on comparison sites.
Why US finance teams look for a Tradeshift alternative
The reasons we hear are specific, and most of them come back to scope. Tradeshift does not publish a price, has no free trial, and quotes on document volume, network usage and compliance scope, with onboarding billed as a separate project. For a US entity whose suppliers are domestic, most of that scope buys nothing.
- Suppliers refused the portal. Vendors keep emailing PDFs, so AP staff upload them by hand and the network is a very expensive inbox.
- Supplier fees caused friction. Block's Tradeshift help center says suppliers whose company invoice count exceeds 600 invoices a year are charged a fee. Your largest vendors are the ones most likely to cross that line and complain.
- The renewal does not match usage. A subsidiary pulled into a group rollout pays for clearance countries it never invoices in.
- Onboarding never finished. When half the supplier base is still off network after a year, the AP team runs two processes instead of one.
We cover the cost side in detail on our Tradeshift pricing page, including where the 600 invoice supplier fee comes from and which estimates you should ignore.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Tradeshift?
Yes, if you do not need foreign e-invoicing clearance. AutoPayables publishes $49 a month for 200 invoices and $149 a month for unlimited invoices, with capture, line level GL coding, two and three way PO matching, duplicate checks and approvals included. BILL publishes $49 to $89 per user a month. Tipalti starts at $99 a month for AP before transaction fees.
A fair comparison puts a full year side by side. Billed yearly, AutoPayables Growth is $288 and Scale is $888. Hold those next to the Tradeshift subscription plus onboarding and any supplier fees your vendors pass back to you in price, and the decision usually makes itself for a domestic supplier base.
When you should stay on Tradeshift or move to Basware or Esker
Be honest about this part. If you invoice or receive invoices in countries that mandate e-invoicing clearance, such as Italy, Mexico or the countries moving to real time reporting, you need a certified network and a vendor that keeps up with each mandate. AutoPayables does not run a supplier network, does not clear invoices with foreign tax authorities and does not have an entity or subsidiary dimension. Basware and Esker do that work, and so does Tradeshift. Switching to a US AP tool in that situation trades a pricing problem for a compliance problem.
The split that works for many groups is to leave the network where it is required and run the US entity on a lighter tool. That is a common outcome for US subsidiaries of European parents, and it is the situation our AP software for large business page walks through.
What AutoPayables replaces, and what it does not
| Tradeshift job | AutoPayables |
|---|---|
| Read supplier invoices | Yes. AI capture of vendor, invoice number, PO number, dates, tax, totals and every line item from PDFs, photos or a forwarding address |
| Code invoices to the ledger | Yes. A suggested GL account on every line, learned per vendor |
| Match to purchase orders | Yes. Two way on vendor and amount within your tolerance, three way once receipts are recorded |
| Catch duplicates | Yes. File hash, normalized invoice number and vendor, amount and date checks before approval |
| Approve | Yes. One approval threshold, with a full audit log. No multi-level routing |
| Post to the ERP | Yes. Sync to QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite and Sage, or import files |
| Pay suppliers | Partly. NACHA ACH files, check PDFs and Positive Pay files for your own bank. We do not move money |
| Supplier network and portal | No |
| Foreign e-invoicing clearance | No |
If the bottom two rows are not requirements, the rest of the table is the work your team does every day, and you can test it on last month's invoices before you sign anything. Our e-invoicing software page explains how US teams handle structured invoices without joining a network, and the Beanworks competitors and Basware alternatives comparisons cover the other network and AP vendors in more depth.
How to switch off Tradeshift without losing history
Plan the move around your renewal date, not around the software. Export your open invoices, vendor master and approval history from Tradeshift before notice is due, tell suppliers on the network where to send invoices next, and run the new tool in parallel for one close. Most of the work is the supplier notice. A single email with a new invoice address and a cutoff date covers suppliers who were already sending PDFs, which for a US entity is usually most of them.
Frequently asked questions
For a global e-invoicing network, the closest alternatives are Basware, Esker and Coupa. For accounts payable work such as capture, coding, matching and approval, the alternatives are Medius, Yooz, Tipalti, AvidXchange, BILL and AutoPayables. Which group fits depends on whether you need foreign tax clearance.
CB Insights names JAGGAER, Coupa and Basware as Tradeshift's top competitors. Review directories such as GetApp and SelectHub list AP automation vendors instead, including AvidXchange, Tipalti, Yooz, Melio and SAP Concur, because Tradeshift also sells an AP product called Pay.
Among tools that publish a price, AutoPayables is $49 a month for 200 invoices and $149 a month for unlimited, with no per-user fee. BILL is $49 to $89 per user a month. Basware, Esker, Coupa, Medius and AvidXchange do not publish list pricing.
Both. Tradeshift Pay handles e-invoicing and AP automation, and the wider platform includes e-invoicing compliance, B2B EDI through Babelway, procurement and a business card product called Go. Many US buyers only use the AP part, which is what a lighter tool can replace.
No. AutoPayables does not run a supplier network or clear invoices with foreign tax authorities. It reads the PDFs and emails your suppliers already send, codes and matches them, and routes them for approval. If you need certified e-invoicing in mandate countries, Basware or Esker is the closer replacement.
Sometimes. It depends on the buyer who invited them. Block's Tradeshift help center says suppliers whose total company invoice count exceeds 600 invoices a year are charged a fee, while UPS says the network is free for its suppliers. AutoPayables never charges your suppliers.
The software side takes an afternoon on a self-serve tool. The real timeline is your contract notice period and one parallel close while suppliers move to a new invoice address. Export open invoices, the vendor master and approval history from Tradeshift before notice is due.
Test the replacement on your own invoices before the renewal
Upload real bills, code and match them, and sync approved bills to your ledger. Your first 20 invoices are a one time trial, then $49 or $149 a month.
